McMurry University’s Student Managed Investment Fund Makes First Stock Investments

ABILENE, Texas -Students in the School of Business Student Managed Investment Fund have made their first stock selections and subsequent purchases. The first securities purchased are as follows:

From the Financial Sector

The student managed investment fund traveled to Funeral Directors Life Insurance Company (FDLIC) and Parkway Advisors on Tuesday, Oct. 16, for a field trip.

The $1 million student investment fund was approved this summer by the McMurry Board of Trustees, who allocated the $1 million from the McMurry endowment to be managed by students enrolled in two special finance classes taught by Robert Kuzma and Jared Reynolds.

“More sectors and stocks will be researched and purchased across the remaining weeks of the semester,” said Reynolds. “A special thanks goes to students Zach Ryan for his research on the financial sector and Connor Davis for his research on the technology sector.”

“The School of Business at McMurry emphasizes practical application. We work hard to provide students with a practical skill set that they need in order to succeed in the business world,” said Reynolds. “The Student Managed Investment Fund provides students with extensive money management experience.”
