McMurry University History Professor Dr. Don Frazier recently released a new book titled Thunder Across the Swamp: The Fight for the Lower Mississippi, February-May 1863. Frazier’s book details the Union offensive by General Nathaniel P. Banks as he launched his campaign up Bayou Teche and the Atchafalaya River in Louisiana in support of the Federal battle against the Confederate stronghold at Vicksburg.
Dr. Rob Sledge, Professor Emeritus of History at McMurry, also has a new book published titled “A People, A Place: The Story of Abilene, Volume 2.” The book covers Abilene from the years 1940 to 2010, and is subtitled “The Modern City.” Dr. Sledge recently spoke at the West Texas Book and Author Festival about his new book.
